Name Meaning: From the Gothic word midjis (“middle”) + the reconstructed Gothic word *sumars (“summer”).
Date: The new moon of Hawimenoþs.
Deities Honored: Sauil.
Activities: Reidarjos celebrate the Goddess Sauil and all of Her glory and light on this day. Celebrants gather with friends and family, eat and drink together, and make sunset offerings to the Goddess. Once night has fallen, celebrants hang lanterns or other kinds of lights and continue feasting, drinking, and celebrating.
Offerings: The first serving of the Midjasumars feast.
Associated myth: Upon Euric’s death, Sauil visits the infant Alaric II and promises that he will grow up into a valiant warrior and beloved king.
